of energy found in a thing. Any big change in life is the result of many seasons of small amounts of energies that causes one to shift from one place to another. Wanted to share just a bit of Jared's essay; in it I saw growth, a quantum leap for him personally. In a world full of obsession with self and “selfies”—his essay conveys a major reason why he wants to succeed and today I celebrate that kind of success. Even though my parents are primarily responsible for Zachary, I have to pitch in and do what I can to assist. There have been times when I have missed out on certain activities because my older autistic brother needed me. Looking back, as teenagers, my sister and I never had the luxury of just thinking of ourselves—we both had to consider what was best for our family. At times, it has been unbelievably frustrating to give up things just for Zachary. However, sacrificing for him has taught me the smallest sacrifices for the greater good
are the ones that count. The road to success is one I want to embrace, not just for myself but for Zachary.
